Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Commitment to Accessibility
The State of Colorado is committed to providing equitable access to services for all individuals. Our accessibility efforts strive to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA criteria. The Department welcomes suggestions on how to improve accessibility for users with disabilities and requests for accommodation to any State of Colorado services. Submit questions, make an accommodation request, or file an Accessibility Discrimination Complaint via this accessibility form or via email to accessibility@dhe.state.co
- The Department reviews all requests individually and responds to most inquiries within two business days.
- You will not be charged for any reasonable accommodation or support.

- Testing and Improvements
- We regularly test our websites using automated tools like SiteImprove and professional testers to find and fix accessibility issues.
- We test materials using Microsoft accessibility compliance checkers before distribution.
- We have accessibility champions posted throughout the department who check materials before posting or electronic distribution.
- Our websites and apps are continuously updated and improved to include accessibility requirements.
- Tools like SiteImprove and WebAIM’s Contrast Checker help guide our efforts.
- Training Our Team
- All CDHE staff receive accessibility training.
- Training includes required courses, ongoing updates and topic-specific sessions.
- Staff also have access to a dedicated intranet page with accessibility resources and tools.
- Buying Accessible Technology
- We build accessibility into the way we purchase digital tools.
- Vendors who provide digital services to CDHE must provide an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR), also known as a VPAT.
- We ensure testing of new products to make sure the product meets accessibility standards
